BIO-GUARD Treatment

CH2O's BIO-GUARD products are used to control algae, bacteria, and fungi in recirculating commercial and industrial water cooling towers. They also control bacteria and fungi in industrial air washing systems. All BIO-GUARD products are registered with the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and corresponding state agencies. An initial dose of BIO-GUARD provides immediate sterilization of the system. Dosages are repeated until biological control is reached. Maintenance dosages are required to control future microbial growth, usually every two to five days. Frequency depends on the amount of treated water bleed-off and the severity of the microbiological problem. Additions are made in the cooling tower sump.

PACKAGING

Available in 5 to 55 gallon containers. Also available in 19 to 209 litre containers. Larger sizes are available upon request.

PRODUCT APPLICATION

The warm, moist environment in a cooling tower provides an excellent medium for microbiological growth. This produces a bio-film which causes fouling, reduces the efficiency of scale inhibitors, and promotes metal corrosion. This fouling degrades the heat transfer capabilities of the cooling system, reducing efficiency and increasing operating costs. Organisms that cause "Legionnaire's" disease (and many other contagious diseases) have been found in cooling towers and air washers. Personnel who work around the equipment, or in air processed by the equipment, must be protected from the airborne pathogens. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that an effective biocide program be established to prevent the formation of L. pneumophila and other microbiological growth. Destroying all life-threatening organisms is of paramount concern.

CONTROL

The best method of control is to destroy, inhibit, or block reproduction of unwanted cells. This can be accomplished by establishing a routine BIO-GUARD program. BIO-GUARD products are effective against all forms of microbiological growth.
